Screenshot of 3D parts and assemblies

Screenshot of 3D parts and assemblies

Hi,

I would suggest to add a simple function to make screenshots of 3D part or assembly, with white background.

It exists some tools I have already installed, but I have problems with them at each Inventor upgrades...

So it will be easier if it was directly implemented by Autodesk.

Cheers.

A simple Screen capture is command is built into Windows 7, 8 and 10. [press Windows button on keyboard, type "snip", press Enter].

I don't think Autodesk should focus on making a tool that is built into Windows.

Hello p.landrot

Please try CoolOrange Add-in called Screen Grab - that should do it.

@Josh_Hunt

I tried your solution but it seems that works only on Windows 10, not before.

Is this tool allows to make the background in white ?

@paul

I have already installed the CoolOrange but didn't worked from 2016 Inventor version. So I have installed "AvantCADScreenshotTool" which worked on 2016 but not on 2017...

I re-try CoolOrange tool this morning, and Inventor told me that it is blocked. After changed the rights in the tools manager, it seems that it works.

But I keep my suggestion because I guess this kind of tool is not a big difficulty for Autodesk to implement, and I'm sure that it will save time and add-in problems of a lot of users. Especially that each user has not necessarily the rights to install add-in on his computer.

@Anonymous I assure you Snipping tool is built into Windows 7 and 10. I used it last week. If you don't have it then I suggest you talk to your IT department.

Ideas like this always sound simple but any new feature requires hundreds (or thousands) of hours to write and test. That time would be better spent on fixing bugs or building better features.

I also HIGHLY recommend http://discover.techsmith.com/snagit-brand-desktop . I use it every day but I also build documentation!

@Anonymous I missed your other question. Snipping Tool is a Windows app so it has no control over the Inventor background. You would need to change the Inventor Color Scheme to Presentation.

I should mention that Inventor does have the Inventor Studio environment. It may be a lot more than what you want but it can make the images look much more real if you use the "Global Lights" style.

Here's a video to make the white background thing a little easier.
