Representations need more functionality.

Representations need more functionality.

Representations need more functionality like Inventor competitor Solidworks to where it doesn’t matter which representation you create it has full functionality in the one chosen and when that assy is a child of the parent assy you don’t have to create LOD in parent assy just because of a child LOD.

The frustrating part is I was told to create an idea to get support to press AutoDesk to fix their software and I see a lot of great ideas but the posts are pretty Old, so how do we even know they are doing anything or am i wasting my time?

Hi Cholte,

Could you describe what you need to achieve? Perhaps we can help you to get something working?

Paul,

Two things:

1. When creating a dynamic assy using positional reps you have to be in the Master rep to set up any sort of mating constraints and then have to go into the positional rep and suppress and suppress to get the result you want which is not only counter productive but every time you save the assy a dialog box pops up to say you have to save in the master rep?

2. Creating a level of detail to suppress an assy part that only one component of the vendor part is used in this instant but the whole part is used in other instances I've created a LOD to suppress the parts not needed but that won't work... Sure you can hide the part not used but then the weight and balance is wrong in the GA. Then the parent assy that has the child assy in it you tell it to use the LOD but when re-opening the parent you see the component that is not supposed to be there...

1. I agree. Having to go back to the Master positional rep to add additional constraints can be annoying.

You might like to add your support to these similar ideas:

2. I'm still not entirely clear on what you want to do here, but I'm thinking that iAssemblies might be the more appropriate tool to save suppressed states inside an Assembly that can be re-used when inserting an assembly into a main assembly.
