In my case, the current behavior serves my workflow, where the part aliases (reference designators) has to be preserved in case you are doing a component replace.
Having said that, I urge Autodesk's developers to add this as an Application Option so the current behavior can be maintained.
As a quick fix, if you do not have too many components being replaced, you can select the name of the browser node and delete it. The actual component name will appear back. Hope this helps.
It "should" do that automatically when you replace a component. If it doesn't, there is also a "Rename Browser Nodes" tool on the "Assembly-Productivity" panel fly-out. You may have to select the "filename" first, then do it again and apply the "default".
@karthur1 yep, that's my point exactly. It SHOULD do it, but I have to manually rename the nodes, even when I change a content ctr part over. It's ridiculous that the name doesn't automatically update to the correct name.!
I have two assemblies, A01 & A02 which contains a component C01. If I rename component C01 to C02, then open A01, I have to "rename browser node" then if I open A02, I have to once again "rename browser node".
If I don't do this, or another used opend the assembly A02, then the browser node has the wrong name.
Surely once the part has been renamed and updated, the file references should link to the new name???
This issue cause another problem. When users open a 3D view from Vault and check in browser, he see the wrong part number like in Inventor if we don't do "Rename browser nodes".
