Remove auto-update triggers in assemblies (e.g. place & delete)

Remove auto-update triggers in assemblies (e.g. place & delete)

Currently Inventor will automatically update the entire assembly file (which could take 20 mins) if certain actions are taken like deleting a part or grounding a component. This creates a huge headache when working with large assemblies (60,000+ parts) and especially when assemblies are just in there just for reference. If I just want to delete or place a component from a large assembly, why should the entire assembly need to update?

Defer update does not work.

Definitely needed as a minor change shouldnt require an update every time, instead auto update every 2-5min on the next change as at that point you only lose 5mins work in the event of a crash.

An auto update every 2-5 minutes wouldn't work for me on large assemblies as it sometimes takes 30+ minutes to update. But we should be able to have control of the automatic updates to work with everyone's workflow rather than having to pause every other moment to have the model update.

Yeah, 2-5 mins was a concept but a box where you set a default auto update and then a file specific update for those huge assemblies would make our lives much easier.

This behavior is the the real large assembly performance killer. People ask for improving the performance, so Autodesk does that doing improvements like this: faster assembly open, faster drawing view placing, faster constrains. But the real problem which cost bunch of time is updating entire assembly (or part) even you work in sub assembly in very deep level.

Update is important but do it on demand! I am begging, it so frustrating if you work in skeletal modeling. That makes this software so inefficient.

I hope that one day people will understand what the real problem is, and vote on this IDEA.

This is happening everywhere. Even I modify only layer style in a drawing file, Inventor is updating assemblies:
