Rebuilt all the Cable and Harness environment seriously

Rebuilt all the Cable and Harness environment seriously

There is a lot of functions that are impossible to use because they are too complicated, too limited, obsolete technology, or not finished. Often impossible to configure. Especially in Nailborad views.

This is a list of things that must be rebuilt or updated because ther are impossible to use currently :

Ipt and iam:

1) Splice are not supported by the electromechanical link between Inventor and AutoCAD Electrical. Probably because it is a virtual component. So, in fact the electromechanical link cannot be use at all if the wires have splices.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/assign-splice-in-the-electromechanical-link-with-autoc...

2) Cable and Harness Library. Export some object from the Cable and Harness Library is too complicated. Need to configure a .cfg file, Export a .csv file,…

Depend of the regional setting and Inventor language, .cfg files and .csv files bug because of different separation codes (: ; , . )

.idw:

1) The Nailboard is not friendly to use. Always must enter and quit the sketch mode to use the nailbord functions. The tab "Nailboard" automatically change to "sketch" when you edit it…

2) The "Report" function is so over complicated that customers do not use it… Very painful to configure; lot of things are unable to configure. Please stop with the .cfg files!

Example of issue, Incident ID: 25007 : https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Custo...

Too much step to have a report table. Must search the cfg files; It creates some .csv files. After this, must create a "General table", choose the .csv files… Workflow is too long and complicated.

If a folder is moved, the link with the .csv. is definitively broken.

Depend of the regional setting and Inventor language, .cfg files and .csv files bug because of different separation codes (: ; , . )

3) "Property Display" function is not finished. For example, the segment property "Diameter" is set to Centimeter, with a lot of decimal. Impossible to configure the unit and decimal. Nobody can sell a drawing with leader text like: "segment diameter: 0.983999989 centimètre"…

Example of issue, Incident ID: 40333 :

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Segme...

4) We need to get all the Harness Properties of the connectors, RefDes for example, on drawing functions: like view Label, Text, Leader Note, …

It is needed to have all the Electrical Properties from a part in drawing

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/recover-electrical-properties-from-a-part-in-drawing/i...

5) The .idw drawing can have multiple sheets. Please add the possibility to create multiple Nailboard views on one .idw drawing.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/multiple-harness-assemblies-nailboard-views-in-an-idw/...

6) Nailboard drawing show segment widths that are too small.

ID: 40150

7) Appearances on Nailboard drawing view of virtual parts are false.

drawing-view-of-virtual-parts-not-correct-in-Inventor.html
Incident ID: 40319

9) Add possibility to directly create electrical schematic in .idw like AutoCAD Electrical

Please work on the Cable and Harness environment to make it usable.

Thank you in advance. Best regards.

Hi,

Just getting the splices to actually work would be a huge step in the electromechanical link. I am surprised it doesn't - the splices are a built in feature of both Inventor and Electrical, and they are quite simple. So yes, I support this idea of the feature fully working!
