Per this Forum Discussion
A Range Box should include the parent feature/object so that the return range box is correct. I believe the current method is actually a bug, but in the event this was the intended behavior then this "Idea" is being posted in hopes of correcting this behavior.
Summary:
Rectangular patterns with 1 Row OR 1 column return an incorrect range box value that only includes the copied feature.
Circular patterns also return an incorrect range box since the parent part is not included in the range box.
