Project file driven numbering Scheme filter

Project file driven numbering Scheme filter

Depending on what project file is active in the vault client/inventor, the user is presented with a filtered list of numbering schemes when saving a file in Inventor.

Reason for this is that a vault can contain multiple of numbering schemes but the user should not be presented with all of them, only the ones that should be used with that specific project.

I know that numbering schemes can lead to endless discussions, so won’t start that here. But it looks like you are using multiple IPJs in the same Vault. That is normally seen as bad practice (also see here).

Maybe you can select the numbering scheme based on file type, category, or folder path? You would still have to customize the Vault Data Standard, but this can be done.

Yes we are a large consultancy firm running a lot of projects for a lot of
clients in our vault, there fore different project files for at least
different customer. Having all the numberschemes popping up upon saving is
starting to be a hassle and this is an idea from our own engineer if it's
possible in a further release.

Okay, I see. I suppose you are using different project to distinguish between different templates, styles, etc. Not a nice solution but necessary.

Concerning the numbering: I guess that you have different sub-folders for each client. So maybe you could use the folder path to pick the scheme. Another way would be to put a user-defined prop into the templates and distinguish based on that.

Either way, I would trigger the selection via some programming in the Data Standard.
