Project Cutting Edges Selectively

Project Cutting Edges Selectively

I was missing the possibility in the Autodesk Inventor Software to project cutting edges selectively.

The default Autodesk Inventor command: Project Cutting Edges projects all the edges visible within the Inventor View.
This projection contains under most circumstances a bit to many edges, and can be error related.

I created this add-in to project only the cutting edges from the feature selectively chosen.

This means that only relevant edges from relevant features are projected where needed.
All non relevant edges from non relevant features, that can lead into errors are not included.
This means that features that are deleted or changed cannot give an error of missing geometry.

Maybe this is a good idea for future releases of Inventor.

Project Cut edges currently cuts everything that crosses the sketch plane.  Give us the ability to select only the faces that we want to cut, and when done in context at assembly level, make it associative.

'Project Cut Edges' would be more user friendly if it included an option to cut just the edges of a 'selected body' (surface & solids). This would be particularly useful in complex multi-bodied parts designs. Currently I dislike this tool as often too many unnecessary references are projected.

I find Project Cut Edges too unstable to use, at least in part for the reasons you describe. If I want to get this result I'll create a 3D sketch first and create Intersections and then project those in to the 2D sketch, but that is two commands when one should do.

I'd ideally like to be able to use Project Cut Edges on individual faces, or on work planes that aren't normal to the sketch (instead of having to create an axis first)

Great idea! I want this function now!

It should be great if it works the same way in assembly when using crosspart projection.

Its been years that we been asking for this but Autodesk just ignores us and gives us all sorts of other shitty features we don't need

So if I am editing a part within an assembly the Project Cut Edges tool lets me pick individual parts.... But when editing a multi body part the project cut edges tool gives me no options and selects all the visible bodies. It seems like it wouldn't be a huge lift to apply the assembly level logic to the part level and let me select an individual or multiple bodies rather than assuming i want all the bodies included in the projection.
