This would be such a useful feature, I am very surprised that is has been overlooked so far.
It would be a huge time saver as it seems you have to perform this task for each component individually.
I know that it is unlikely but doing this is way over complicated if you do not have and faces or axes that line up with the centre reference point you wish to explode from!
