Place last item edited button

Place last item edited button

When I create a new .ipt, then place it into the assembly, I have to navigate to the file location, click on the file, then place it. There should be a button in the "Place" dropdown that is Place Last. It could place the last .ipt or .iam that was edited. Clearly, drawings know which file you just had opened. Why can't an assembly do the same?

I know, I can create the component in the assembly, but that often means lots of ugly work planes in the assembly.

Great idea, this would be very handy.

Actually, though, this has already been requested and discussed some here: Placing Recent Items. Would be good to add your feedback and vote to the original as well.

You can copy and paste parts into assemblies - would that help?

Select the top level node in the parts feature tree then right click and choose copy or CTRL+C.

Switch to the assembly and paste.

That is life changing! I still want a button, but that makes it FAR less annoying.

Hooray! Glad I could get you half way there 🙂

Don't forget that you can also drag N drop from windows - Good for inserting lots of components at once!

Thanks again. The copy/paste from the model tree will be a big time save. I'd still love to be able to rotate X, Y, and Z while placing, but this will help to save a bunch of time.
