Patterns with varying spacing. "Multi Pattern" feature.

It would be great if something like "Multi Pattern" could be added to the pattern feature. A user would be able to select how many parts the pattern will create like you normally would but then you would have the option to select different distances for the pattern. For example, If you wanted a pattern of 6 blocks, 6 boxes would be shown instead of one for the column or row spacing.

Use a "Sketch Driven Pattern" in Inventor 2017 or later.

Note how the category on my post is "Assemblies". I'm not referring to patterning features within a part file. I want to pattern parts in an assembly this way. I apologize if that wasn't clear. @swalton

@Anonymous, an older idea exists suggesting the same thing and has lots of votes behind it. Consider adding yours and maybe a comment: Table driven patterns.

@DRoam Thanks for linking me there. I see that post is from 2015. I'm very surprised this hasn't been added already especially because just about every other 3D modeling software has this feature. Inventor is also very bad at even processing patterns. Large patterns seem to always lock it up or make it completely crash.

I feel your pain. I and others feel that way about many ideas in the IdeaStation. But I'll admit that when I look through the "what's new" for the past several version of Inventor, I have a hard time finding any enhancements that I would say are useless or unnecessary.

But at the same time I can't help but feel that some of Inventor's other areas really need more attention than they are receiving. Especially in relation to "the basics" like the foundation of all modeling (sketching), materials and finishes, part and assembly configurations, assembly functionality like mirroring, patterns and adaptivity, and especially the Drawing environment.

But it is what it is. Aside from making yourself heard here, the best thing you can do is also sign up for the beta community to be even more involved in helping shape Inventor's future: http://Autode.sk/InventorBeta.

@DRoam I agree! The basics definitely need more attention. I think several things need addressed in the drawing environment too. It's crazy to me how CAD can do SO many things so much better in terms of dimensioning than Inventor. You would think that stuff would have just been carried over to Inventor????
