Overhaul Text Editor in Drawings

Overhaul Text Editor in Drawings

Problem:

Working with text when creating drawings is possible the only downside to working within Inventor. The text editor has had minimal updates it seems from when I first started using it in 2012. The functionality is poor, slow and difficult to use. Often times what is shown in the editor isn't what is represented on the sheet (Screenshot attached)

Solution:

Overhaul the note text editor of drawings so that it brings it up to a modern standard or just integrate MS word similar to how Solidworks integrates the office suite in some cases.

My Issues Encountered when making drawings:

  1. Numbering is very difficult, there is no function to set the start number of numbering or continue after a gap which means splitting notes is very difficult. As columns are not an option then lots of notes requires manual numbering. Maybe even a feature to continue numbering over pages as well
  2. Indents just work abysmally, especially with numbering. Often we have to manually start part of a sentence on a new line and manually add spaces to indent.
  3. Editing text becomes very slow with large notes, often freezing for a few seconds. Typically encountered when parameters are brought through into the note.
  4. There's no column options for notes. You can only have one column of text and need to use multiple text boxes for columns.
  5. No point font size option. I understand mm will adhere to standard but if I'm doing drawings off standard then point size would be ideal and relative to other softwares.
