Adding ideas to the Idea Station is useless. There are hundreds of good ideas that never get implemented, and many more that never get submitted because of the same fact.
Being able to delete this (with or without dimensions attacked to the point) is indeed a long term short comming which should be easily fixable?
But I would also prefer to either assign a different symbol to it instead of the default circle aka create our own custom one trough the symbol creator and use a different naming scheme for each since different country's have different names for heightlines especially in water constructions.
Atm I'm adding a "height reference pole with markings" as a part in each assembly (large scale) to allign several bigger assembly's together, since the assembly's and other parts can change so not always optimal to use those as reference
It would also be prefferable that you can assign it once in an assembly and then reuse it in all related drawing views together with using several reference points with their own mark to which one the dimension is refering to
Some1 also mentioned on this topic (but archived) to allow the markers to be (auto)moved to the border of the drawing which is also not a bad idea bad to find them
So it's easier to align, verify and/or draw reference lines from them just because this system is wel: Bad
Being able to project planes from the assembly's/parts into drawings as lines might also ease this.
2023 and there still isn't a delete option! Wow...I thought moving across from Solidworks to Inventor was a good thing. Looks like I may have to convince my new employer to get SW instead. So many minor issues like this have carried on for many versions of the software in my last two months of research.
A solution for this Idea is now available for test in the Inventor Feedback/Beta Community. If you would like to try it then you can apply for access using http://Autode.sk/InventorBeta.
This idea has been implemented within Autodesk Inventor 2024.1. Please review the Inventor 2024.1 What's New article here. For more information regarding how you may leverage the feature, and please review this page. Special thanks to everyone who cast a vote for it.
