For me it's kind of the opposite. I can CTRL+Click multiple assemblies, and if I right-click in the graphics window, the Open button is selectable and I can click it and open multiple assemblies and parts at once.
But if I right-click in the Browser Bar, the "Open" button isn't available (even though it is if I only have one component selected)
I wonder why the "Edit" button is selectable in your screenshot while "Open" isn't... that seems very strange. Can you post a screenshot that's otherwise the same as what you posted but of your entire screen, including the Browser Bar?
Thanks for that! That's very odd, the behavior shown in your Screencast doesn't happen for me. I can select multiple components just as you did and open them at once. I thought it might have to do with you using the window cross-selection, but I did that and was still able to open multiple components at once.
In light of that, I'm wondering if this may be a bug on your specific system. Has it always been this way for you? Does this happen with every assembly?
Yes this has been the case in all my time working with inventor. Maybe it's a new update since 2017? We're working with 2016 at the moment.
I've been working with every or so release since Inventor 9.
I'm home for the weekend at the moment but on monday I'll double check a couple more things. I'll try a default project and a new assembly. I'll try on other PC's in the office.
Ahh, you know what? I just checked and it appears it was added in R2 of Inventor 2017. It works on my computer with Inventor 2017 R2, but it doesn't work with Inventor 2016 OR with the original release of Inventor 2017.
So it has been implemented, but unfortunately it is only available to those with a subscription (which is required to access R2 for 2017), or those who purchase Inventor 2018 or later (assuming Autodesk doesn't remove the functionality for some reason).
Hopefully your company has a subscription and can access Inventor 2017 R2. If not, unfortunately you'll have to wait until your company purchases Inventor 2018 or later to take advantage of the functionality. That is, unless Autodesk decides to roll back the functionality to previous versions in a service pack, which is probably not likely. Wish I had better news for you!
