Open IDW from model

Open IDW from model

Just like you can open an .ipt or .iam using the model tree in an .idw, I'd like to be able to open an .idw from the model tree of an .iam, .ipt., or even another .idw.

Understandably, an .iam or .ipt can be the main base view in multiple different drawings, therefore causing Inventor to try an open multiple files. This could be solved with a simple dialog box stating what Inventor is trying to open and allowing the user to choose which .idw (or .idw's) to open.

If there is no associated .idw file, let the user know with a dialog box prompt, and then proceed to open the Open file window.

Thanks!

This has been available from IV 2012 onward, with a minor restriction.  The idw/dwg file has to have the same file name and be in the same directory as the component ipt/iam.  It does not handle the same ipt/iam in several different idws at all.

In IV 2012, the menu pick (Open Drawing) was in the main RMB menu as you propose.  IV 2014 (or 2013) moved it to Component flyout.  I don't know where IV 2016 placed it.

I added the command to my radial marking menu for IV 2014.
