I can see how this would be handy, but I'm not sure how it would work in practice. How would it know what assembly to open? Parts don't know what assembly (or assemblies) they are used in.
The "Open Drawing" from a part or assembly model only works in cases where the model and drawing are in the same folder and have the same file name. That wouldn't work well here. For a Frame Generator assembly, you would have a layout part and the skeleton part. Linking by name like the drawings do would require both of these parts to be in the same folder with the same file name, which is obviously not possible.
Additionally, how would it handle situations where the same layout (multisolid or otherwise) is used in multiple assemblies? Where I work, this is relatively common. A single multisolid would be controlling two or more weldments, and gets inserted into all of their assemblies.
