New Feature Sweep solid

Hi Autodesk,

Now we have Autodesk Inventor HSM, it will be nice to have a new feature that sweeps a solid allong a path.

When you use a profile milling it is hard to design the result.

But when you simulate it within Inventor HSM, you see how the results look.

So please make a feature to design easier results like this.

A lot of votes for the development team. 

Sweep Solid version 2 (rotate Solid around his axis during movement) will make it complete 😉. But for now I’m very happy to see this implemented. 👍

Any progress with sweep solid?

Yes! It has was implemented two or three years ago I think. Use the normal sweep tool an change it to solid mode as shown below. It is a handy feature; but Autodesk, if you are listening, it still needs a lot more work. It still fails quite often, even for some fairly common use cases

Successful Sweep of Cuboid (I don't think Solidworks can do this)

Failed Sweep of Bull-Nose Milling Cutter (pretty sure Solidworks can do this, more common use case)

Yeah it really would be good to see some more work get done to improve the robustness of Solid Sweep

Is it a spline curve of the sweep path? Could you send me a copy of your sample?

it's not a spline, just two lines and an arc, all tangent. The solid is a revolved sketch. The sweep works if it is path aligned, but fixed orientation does not work.

Sweeping and rotating Options

Many times I was in need of a function to rotate and sweep a geometry along a path or between two paths. It should be possible to decide which parameters should stay or are allowed to change in length an / or shape. Must be possible in Solid works, because I have seen parts like that there, but never in Inventor. See example sketch for an Oloid. It would help so many times to have such tools.

In that case rotate the triangle along the path for 180°. Do it two times, you will get an Oloid. Just as an example.
