I've been using Inventor for about a year and a half and not until now did I know there was an option to create a sub-assembly in place. In other 3D CAD products, this option is in the ribbon as well as the right click menu when selecting components in the browser. For those who don't know, you can select multiple parts (also assemblies and sketches) within an assembly and press the TAB key. This will bring up a window to help you create a sub-assembly that contains all of these items AND maintain your constraints.
My Idea is this: Make this option appear in the right click menu in the browser; this is where it is in other CAD packages. Also consider putting this option in the Assemble > Component ribbon within an Assembly file. Having a button to push may draw more people to explore the new option and learn new functionality.
