We cannot prevent/remove the option of override dimensions though you can identify overriden dimension by using the shift+rmb and selecting the override option from the menu, this will highlight all overriden dimensions and you can change them accordingly. I do have small ilogic program which will change color of overriden dimensions, if required i can share the same with you.
