I want to do something that is technically more of a superposition/superimpose than an "overlay". I want to show a part in two positions, as if it was physically in both positions simultaneously (superpositioned). My example below shows:
- my two positions independently
- a standard overlay view using the same view rep as the base view
- a mockup of my ideal view
- an overlay view with only the moving components shown
- an overlay view where the parent view shows only the moving components
Example Overlay Views
Creating my ideal view currently involves:
- duplicating the components that need to be shown in two positions
- overriding my BOM quantity manually to avoid double ordering (note: BOM Structure is NOT changed to reference because that would result in an unshaded view of those pieces only that also has settings to be changed every time a view is placed)
- changing the line properties of the parts shown in the additional position to highlight it as different
