iMates to work on multiple levels

I'd like to be able to select iMates across assembly levels. E.g. having a tank with some tank legs which are in level 3 of the assembly model tree. Having to attach machine feet to the legs in level 1 is not possible with iMates. If the machine feet and tank legs can change independently (replace component) the normal constraints does not work out because it looses the link, but iMates is not an option as for now.

This would be amazing as we use (sub)assemblies to depict our "phantom groups" and make them flexible once inserted into the top level model. We then need to connect individual components in the assembly to other components in the top level assembly.  It would be nice to not have to dual define an iMate for components. (once in the part file, a second time in the assembly file to use in top level assemblies)

Yes a lot of customer need this feature.
Make iMates from different level works

Currently, iMates will only mate with ones on the same level. It is too limiting. If you want the iMates at the subassembly level, they need to be created there.

Please add the possibility to constraint iMates from main assembly with iMates on a part in a sub-assembly.
