iLogic Find Functionality - Auto Copy/Paste into Find Field

iLogic Find Functionality - Auto Copy/Paste into Find Field

In many other programming languages or Microsoft Programs when a word or words are selected and Ctrl-F action is done the word or words that are selected are auto-copy and pasted into the Find field. In iLogic that is not the case. When you hit Ctrl-F you have to then go to the word, select the word, and do Ctrl-C and then Ctrl-V. You don't realize how often you find things until this functionality is not there. It seems like a small thing but when you are editing code and you want to make sure variables exist or don't exist this can quickly become frustrating.

@Tiffany_Hayden_, I am not sure which Inventor release you are using now. Inventor 2023 supports to select the word and press "Ctrl + F" to launch the find dialog with the selected word in the find field. Please see the image below. Does it work for you? Thanks!

So in 2023 it uses a secondary find replace (The one on the lower right) and not the top one that is built into iLogic? I am currently using 2021 and upgrading this year to 2023. I'm glad it was improved. Right now when you click CTL-F it lanches the top banner Search and Replace but doesn't do any auto copy and paste into that. The beauty of that top one is that you can find next and replace or not depending on the situation. I do think implementing the functionality where it uses the top banner would be beneficial for users.

@Tiffany_Hayden_ , it is the secondary find replace, and not the top one. When you select the string and press CTRL+F, and the selected string will be auto copied & pasted in to that, and the find & replace functions are also supported. Does it work for you?

@Yijiang.Cai That will work! Thank you for the information regarding the new release. AND for making the functionality similar to VB.net. Have a great day and appreciate your work!
