In the company where I work, we have about 1 million items between parts and assembly.
We use Design Assistance to make copies, and we lose a lot of time in this activity.
After copying, we need to rename all previously copied items, we lose a lot of time again!

In the Ilogic Design Copy option. We need the option to rename IPTs, IAMs, and IDWs.
Run the copy and rename everything at the same time.
This function is very important to us.

Are you using Vault?

Copy design is very easy in Vault..

In the company where I work we don't use VAULT.
In other companies I used to work in the past.

Do you use the constant vault?

Vault is very user friendly for copying designs and renaming.  Loading all the parts that you have would be labor intensive but worth work to make finding items easier as well.

And they don't intend to put it.

I am in complete agreement with the OP.

If, for whatever reason, Vault is not an option, then the iLogic Design Copy tool is the best way to reuse a design. Unlike Pack and Go, all links to the original are severed, resulting in a truly independent copy that can cohabitate within the same project. Yet, all relationships between components (even Adaptivity) are conserved.

However, this tool is crude and could use some refinement. Namely, it could be better at renaming components - good practice if all copies are indeed to be under a single project structure. Right now, it has the ability to add a prefix or a suffix to component names. This is enough for a single copy, or for making copies of a master, but quickly proves inadequate, for example, when suffixing an already-suffixed copy. Moreover, adding the option to flatten the file hierarchy (as Pack and Go can do) would also be a big time-saver. Finally, its unique selection process is awkward, making a distinction between copying one or more parts, and copying one or more assemblies (including all components).

I understand why this tool is not well known. But it definitely has its uses for certain users (I am one of them) and certain workflows. Let's invest a little to add some polish that will reduce the manual work involved in design reuse.

Desginer Assistance and very laborious.
Prefix and suffix and very little.
We spent days and more days doing this tiring and time-consuming work.

I also agree with OP and to add to this suggestion, a find and replace feature like what is available in vault would be most useful as well to replace part of a file name with something else when copying designs. Not everyone has access to Vault.
