IDW inch unit string

IDW inch unit string

Currently Inventor only allows dimension styles to show architectural style units (0'-0") for feet and not for inches. This has been a thorn in my side for my entire 15 year career and my number one hope for each new inventor release has always been the ability to choose which style units to use for inch dimensions. Appending a suffix is a very poor work around, as shown in the next image below, because it gets placed after the entire dimension value. This also then necessitates setting up different dimension styles for angles, hole notes, bend notes, etc.

This isn't a problem in AutoCAD because the suffix can be applied directly to the primary units instead of the whole dimension (which it can also do in text override):

I would propose (and beg, and plead, and whine) that this same functionality be added to Inventor dimension styles.

I am of exactly the same opinion here. It also makes it difficult to display a drawing in several languages. Here the " would also be the simplest solution.

But it's so awesome to have a hanging " floating in the dimension string LOL! Can't believe this is still an issue. Sometimes it seems like development takes place on new, useless features - while disregarding rudimetary issues like this. Very unprofessional - like a home buider that forgets to install electrical faceplaces and trim..
