What if you could just hit Ctrl+Tab to toggle between your most recent windows? Hitting it once would take you back to your previous window. Pressing Tab more than once would let you go back even further. Holding it down would show you thumbnails of your open documents, in the order of most-recently accessed, which you could click to go to a specific one.
