Hi.
I'm an engineer working with Inventor 2025. I have experience with different programs such as SolidWorks and PTC Creo. I am really liking Inventor so far, but one drawing feature I am missing is the ability to create snap-lines for lining up the dimensions of a part. This feature was available in both Creo and SolidWorks and saves a lot of time when it comes to lining up dimensions.
How it is now:
- Lining up dimensions at an equal distance from the part-edge takes an unnecessary amount of time.
- The "snapping" that is present in the program gives different distances for different parts (ref. the unnecessary time use)
How the snap-line feature works:
1. create a snapline
2. select edges or whole view
3. type in number of snap-lines you want (stacking)
4. type in the distance from the edge to the first snap-line
5. type in the distance between first and second (and so on) snap-lines (if more than one)
In other words, you are guaranteed to have consistent distance of all dimensions across all parts of the drawing.
This would make the alignment of the dimension predictable and easy to use, quicker, and would give greater consistency across the drawing.
Yours Sincerely,
Oliver.
