Fix Project Geometry Error

I added a new part to my assembly. I clicked on edit the part. I chose a plane to start a 2d sketch. I clicked on project geometry. I clicked on an edge of a rectangular shape. I get a "Projection of the selected curve would result in a point" error message.

I know that it will result in a point, that's why I chose that edge. I want to project a point onto my sketch. In fact, I'd like to end up with two points so that I can draw a line between them. 

Please fix this flaw in Inventor.

You can't see the cursor or commands being clicked in your video.

However, adaptive projection has some limitations compared to in-model projection.

Try projecting this edge end-point. The effect will be consistent with your goal.
