Extrude Offset from Sketch Plane

Extrude Offset from Sketch Plane

There are times where I need to create two or more extruded features in line with each other.  I don't want to have to create a sketch plane for each.  I would like to have the ability to have one plane used for multiple seperate sketches, but for each extrude have the functionality to be able to offset from that sketch plane to start my extrude.

How handy would that be?

I hope this makes sense.

Does this option help you?

Maybe,  Is that a screen capture from 2014?  I am still on 2012 so if that does what I described then my idea is mute.  If so then it also gives me one more thing to look forward to with 2014.

The image shown requires there to be Work Planes or existing faces there to use as a reference for the offset.  Is what you are after to input an offset in value form from the plane you are on?

Take a look at these requests, which ask for essentially the same controls and have gained a good amount of support:

1. Control which plane is the extrusion start plane: Extrusion command with offset from face and distance

2. Control offset from start/end plane(s): Ability to specify offset from extrusion start/end faces

Also, take a look at a related request here that needs some support: Make 'Between Points' an Available Selection for an Extrusion.

This would be really useful in multibody modeling when you want to extrude between points or endpoints in a sketch, without having to create workplanes for each extrusion.
