Short story:
I wish that scripts could trigger on "Derived model change", "Any Linked Parameter Change" or just plain "Before document update" and "After document update".
Long story:
I have a skeleton model that has parameters for 20 nozzles, each nozzle has multiple parameters, such as size, length, option A, option B, etc.
Each nozzle is in an assembly which has a script to replace components from content center.
To trigger this script, i have to use for example "DN_Size_Nozzle_1" in blue text
For the next assembly, i have to use "DN_Size_Nozzle_2" etc etc.
This would mean I have to go through 20 assemblies and rename all these parameters inside the scripts and parameterlist.
Thats a lot of work to create, not to mention if anything changes in the future, I have to change it 20x.
To solve this I made one assembly which I copy 19x, in which I only need to change 1 user parameter name USER_Nozzle_Nr
USER_Nozzle_DN = Parameter("Excel_Nozzle_DN_Side_Nr" & USER_Nozzle_Nr)
But then i forgot the fact that this does not trigger my rules.
Now I can force this script to run after my button is pressed in the main form.
But I prefer not to run my scripts this way.
It could be easily fixed if there was an event trigger that would trigger on "Derived model change", "Any Linked Parameter Change" or just plain "Before document update" and "After document update".
Currently there is no event that would trigger in my situation.
I prefer not to use event triggers entirely because the current available event triggers can trigger many times unnecessary. (any iproperty change, any parameter change)
A 'before document update' event would be great in many situations when working with skeleton models.
You could set script to 'Don't run automatically' and add it to an event trigger on document update
