Many times its good to "freeze" the view in the engineer's notebook to save the state of the model just so that the view does not change late if there are model updates. If you place a view while the model is showing a section view, and then freeze the view. What is shown in the engineer's notebook is no longer sectioned (so the detail goes away).
This is just about useless. Freezing the view should not change what is shown in the view.
