Good day. Last year I undertook a contract involving a switch to Solidworks 2021. I encountered a very useful feature in the Drawing environment that seems to be missing from Inventor, currently using 2023. The company I'm contracting for now utilise multi-sheet drawings for their large fabrications. These are reasonably weighty (>12sheets) and have to involve in some instances detail views / sections being presented on a separate sheet from the parent view. There does not seem to be a way to apply a bidirectional label to these views, identifying the source of the view, or the location of Parent View.
This is achieved in SW by a simple right-click on relevant view, and clicking Location tab. One applied to one or both views in the relationship, this updates as and when these views are moved (either on sheet or to a different page). This is awesome functionality and avoids the tedium & error prone nature of manually creating & populating a sketch symbol to apply a location tag to views. These are essential for fabricators navigating paper drawings. Despite all efforts, it's just not possible to have all Parent/ Child views on the same page. To that end, point 2. SW warns you if you try to use a view identifier already in use, avoiding manual duplication mistakes. Inventor let's you make a mess of it unhindered. Here's hoping.. Thanks.
