Drawing - Intersection points!!!

Drawing - Intersection points!!!

Hi,

I think the way that we have to dimension to intersection points is far too painfull.

I've used various 3D modeling packages and this small feature really grinds on me within Inventor. I tried multiple times today to dimension between two intersection points.

I don't know if any of you have used the likes of solidworks before, but they make the feature so easy.... you simply highlight both the lines and then click "point" to create a workpoint and it automatically draws in the intersection which is then a feature within the drawing which fully dimensionable...

Please change this! 🙂

I'd like to be able to place a drawing point (Annotate -> Symbols -> CenterMark) at the location of an intersection. This could use the same technique as when connecting a drawing dimension to an intersection (pick line 1, select intersection from menu, pick line 2) you could place a point on that intersection. Once that point is there, as Matt is saying,  you could reuse that point for dimensioning or any other tasks. I hate having to do dimension intersections for the same point over and over again. The intersection tool is already a little cumbersome, so having to use it half a dozen times or more for the same point is terribly inefficient.

Thanks!!

Agreed... as it's impossible to use "Ordinate set" dimensions to dimension to an intersection. Being able to add a "Virtual intersection point" would be extremely useful.

something like this mockup...
