Derived Part add work Geometry

When I have a derived part I would like to add work geometry from the base part.
As per the image below I can add it from the list at the orange arrow which I have and its quite long so not easy to find what I want immediately.
I would like to be able to select the work geometry from the graphics window where I inserted the red arrow.

So you can do this by going to the button with the mouse pointer icon then the green tick both in top right hand side which will allow selection from the derived component by opening it but strongly agree you should be able to do this from the native file.
