Copy section

Copy section

It´s impossible to copy a section - not even on the same sheet.

I want to clarify the assembly steps by using the same section, but with different model states.

Not only that I can´t change the model state in hindsight (which I suggested here: Model views individually adjustable in drawing - Autodesk Community), which I could achieve by fading out the elements in the model browser....but I cannot copy the section, although the initial view is on the same sheet.

Of course I can create a second section with the cutting line nearby the first one. But even then it´s nearly impossible to position the break lines in the same distance (at least with IV 2025...I heard a rumour that at least that is going to work with 2026), so that the result will look like amateur work. That is annoying for users like me, who have the ambition to work as accurately and precisely as possible!

So come on, Autodesk!!

Hi @74321Admin,

Good idea! You can create a second section view and open the sketch to add a dimension so it will be at the same place as the first section view at least.. Hope it helped.

Ok, but as I mentioned: We still work with Inventor 2025.

And even with Inventor 2026, it would still be a Workaround. Honestly, I´m tired of Workarounds.

No detours anymore !

Yeah, the workaround still works with IV2025 (I'm still using it too). But I completely agree I'm done with workarounds for features that should've been integrated a long time ago.
