iam/ipt Parameter Copy Paste

Hello.

Inventor Environment: .iam or .ipt

It would be great if you can copy a subset of the parameters contained within a part/assembly and then paste into another part. There are cases where parts/assemblies are very similar and the same parameters get retyped into the new document. I could see a right click on the "User Parameters" header opening a context menu with the option to copy. Maybe this could pull up a form with the yellow circles with pluses to select the ones you would like to copy. Then maybe a destination could be chosen from this form, or the data can be retained in the clipboard and a paste can be done from the destination file's parameter window.

This would be pretty sharp.

Wouldn't it be great if we could copy and paste parameters from one file to another?  We could just right click on a line and click "Copy", and then in a different part we could click a "Paste Parameter" button.  Or, we could highlight mulituple lines and copy and paste them in the same way!

Hi Rafael, is this not already possible through the 'export to XML' under manage/parameters on the ribbon? When the dialogue box comes up click the 'options' and select 'key parameters only'. This allows you to choose a subset by making them 'key' temporarily. Then just import them into the new file from the 'import from XML'.

You can also import parameters from xls files but this has the major limitation of only allowing numerical parameters (not text or Boolean).

It is possible to move params from one file to another in this fashion, although it is more cumbersome than necessary  a little hidden from the interface. There should be a way to do this directly from the parameters window. It would be nice and consistent with some other Inventor functionality, like copying drawing resources from one drawing and pasting to another drawing. Implementing a form with the 'Vault Copy Design' and 'Derive' style selection orbs [yellow with + and gray with /] for toggling would be a nice feature also.
