Copy and paste AnyCAD DWG Underlay with projected sketch geometry

Copy and paste AnyCAD DWG Underlay with projected sketch geometry

To create a 3D model from a 2D AutoCAD DWG underlay, it's necessary to insert multiple instances of the referenced AutoCAD file onto multiple planes in Inventor, then create multiple sketches - one for each 2D AutoCAD DWG underlay, and then project the DWG geometry into the sketch.

It would be a big time saver of we could copy and paste the Sketch which contains the projected geometry onto a new plane, and have Inventor automatically create a new instance of the referenced DWG file to support the projected geometry.

Layer settings in the referenced DWG instance would be the same as the original instance. We would still need to translate and crop the new instance.

Thanks for all your hard work.

Paul

Hi Paul,

Copy and paste the Projected sketch from DWG will save the time to import DWG and create new sketck. To support this function, there are two items needs to do:

  1. Support coping and pasting sketch with projected sketch geometry
  2. Create a new DWG node and maintain the reference relationship to DWG file

Thanks for the ideal. I will transfer this ideal to dev team and estimate how to support it.

PM and PO team will review the ideal station too. Usually, the more Vote from users, the more possibility it will be implemented

Fred
