Constrain vertex tangent to round surface

Constrain vertex tangent to round surface

I've never been able to easily constrain a vertex to a round surface, perfect or organic.

For example, I want to constrain a cube into a bowl. I want three vertices to be touching the bowl with one vertex floating. I've never been able to do it with the tangent command. I can do it with the Mate command but even then, the vertex gets constrain to the sphere's center point. You have to manually enter in the radius as an offset in order to get it tangent to the surface. I've never been able to do it when the surface isn't a perfect sphere.

If I take the same parts and open them in Solidworks or Creo, I simply select the vertex and surface and it instantly does what I want. The whole thing takes maybe 30 seconds. This can be easily done on a perfect round surface and organic surfaces.

Is this a limitation of Inventor or am I missing something?

Am I using the wrong command?

This is in Solidworks. I'm able to easily constrain three vertices tangent to the organic surface with a few clicks. I can drag the part around the three points never leave the surface or edges. I've tried for hours but came to the conclusion this is not possible to do in Inventor.
