As in solidworks and solid edge, it would be great to see in the tree where a component is (part or feature) when it is selected in the view. That would help to identify, for example, a component and its subassembly without searching for it in the tree one by one.
I don't know if this helps, but if you right click on the component in the view and click "find in browser", it immediately jumps to the component (part or feature) in the tree.
To add onto Lars_greft's comment, you can hold shift and right click to filter the selection. Some options available are component (upper-level item in an assembly tree), part, feature, body, etc. Using this feature in tandem with the "find in browser" command should be all you need.
