Color Schemes and Visibility should be separate

Currently, View Reps are used to control both colors (a.k.a. "Appearances") as well as visibility. This can be a real pain when you want to use the same color scheme across multiple visibility sets, or show the same visibility set with different color schemes. It's very difficult, if not impossible, to keep a desired color scheme or visibility set in sync between multiple View Reps.

I propose we should be able to create color schemes and visibility sets separately, and then combine them as needed for use in parent Assemblies, Presentations, and Drawings. Perhaps View Reps could be used to make predefined combinations of these elements (essentially, just like they do now). But with these elements separated, we would have the power to configure them individually, and create any combination of them that is needed.

Also, while not a problem quite as frequently, View Reps also control Section View cuts and camera views, which results in the same difficulties as above. It would be great if these could be pulled out as their own elements as well, so that we can apply the same section cut or camera view to any visibility set/color scheme.

Definately yes!

I think the whole colouring and view part of inventor could use an update.

Example 1:

With us parts have the default steel colour.

When welded and painted, we give them a colour in the assembly. (a good way to quickly see if a single part has to be painted later on)

When placing the (painted) assembly in another assembly, and make it invisible and visible again, the colours are back to part level instead of assembly level. You have to change it in representation, such a hassle!

Example 2:

Make a frame generator assembly.

Hide the 2D and 3D sketches

Place it in another assembly.

When you make it invisible and visible again all the parts are the colour of the part level (normal steel, not painted) and all 2D and 3D sketches are visible again. And back to changing representation again.
