color coding model-tree

color coding model-tree

Working with multi-body parts, or any other part for that matter, the ability to color code your model-tree could prove rather help full.

The model-tree can at times be quite a messy thing to navigate. moving up and down, and locating the correct "fillet" or, "sketch" is not always a easy task. I sometimes use the rename option of certain features to help me, but it dosnt exactly make the specific feature stand out.

in Photoshop, layers has the option of color-coding 7 predefined colors just by right-clicking the layer and assigning the chosen color.

I find this very helpful, as it allows you to make your own little systems, either highlighting one or few main features, or even color coding all of it, into meningsfuld sections, depending on your design.

I imaging this would be a very easy implementation into the program. however it could also be an idea to take this a step further, allowing to sort feathers into folders or sub-groups, just like you do with parts in assemblys. but maybe this is harder to do coding wise?

I was just thinking of this!! I know it's an old post and I will explain what he means..

In our company we work with different bodies in a Part. These bodies have their own function and features.

It would be great if you could assign colors to these features, so you can see which features belong where.

I think this would also work perfectly with templates. If you have features that should remain untouched, you could simply color-code them so users know NOT to touch these features.

Advantages :

- you have a quick overview

- less time needed to search those features/sketches

- if you assign specific colors to specific functions your team always knows which belongs to what.

That’s a great add-on to my idea. Thanks for that 😊
