Clearance and Tapped Hole in one feature

Clearance and Tapped Hole in one feature

Hi

This is a suggestion to extend the hole feature to optionally do both a Clearance Hole in one range of selected solids and a Tapped Hole in another range of selected solids, both respecting a common set of parameters. All in the same instance of the feature.

In the current version of the hole feature it is necessary to repeat the hole feature, and match their parameters manually. In turn the two features would have to be updated individually, eg. in case the size of the intended screw or bolt changes.

Cheers - Anders

You may already know about this but I recently had Inventor training and remembered something like what you are describing; it's called "adaptive geometry/features". I am by no means an expert, just pointing in a potentially good direction. Here's a link: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/ENU/Inve...

So it would be something kind of like Bolted Connection Generator, but for multisolids? I could see a lot of potential for something like that.

I can see we have allmost the same problem.. but not quite.  fell free vote  for mine post as well

Fortunately, that functionality has already been requested and has a lot of support. Cast your vote for the original idea to avoid splitting votes: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/add-hole-type-counterbored-countersunk/idi-p/5497777
