Bring the Fusion 360 Triad to Inventor → Constraints, Joints, Sheet Metal, the whole lot..

The triad in Fusion 360 is great, and I think Inventor would benefit greatly from it. The "Triad" I'm referring to is the one seen in the Move and Joint commands, and the simplified one seen in the sheet metal Flange command.

In Fusion, I can create a joint and quickly drag the Triad arrows to place my component exactly where I want it in the X, Y and Z directions, and modify its angle (see picture attached). In Inventor, I can only offset my joint in one direction, and only by typing it in (there are no arrows to drag on) 😞. If I want a different offset in a different direction, I have to change my joint origin (not always possible, depending on the part's faces). This is cumbersome, and a Triad similar to Fusion would speed things up massively.

Also, the flange command in Fusion has a simplified version of the triad, with a simple drag arrow and angle manipulator (see photo attached). This would be hugely beneficial too in Inventor's sheet metal flange command!

Thanks,

Hubert

This isn't exactly what you are describing, but did you know that if you RMB and select Offset Origin, before you click on the point that you want to use as your origin, then you can offset the joint origin from the point you select on a plane?  I agree that the joint command overall could use some improvements, but you can currently offset your origin in more than one direction.

Thanks, @andrewiv !

Indeed I didn't know that was possible, thank you for bringing it to my attention, it will be very useful in the future.

As you said, the joint command could still do with improvements, like having the triad arrows showing up automatically when starting the command (no need to RMB and select offset origin).

Cheers
