Block Libary

Block Libary

I use a lot of sketches often. On the one hand for attaching fans and compressors and so on, on the other hand we have often the same rotation basis for our attachment of dowel pins and so on.

I would love to have a central libary (maybe just for me, maybe for the whole company) in which I can manage all the blocks from one platform.

Think about things like specialized extrusion profiles you use over and over. Sometimes you just want to draw a concept and don't want to place a ipart, because you only need the 2d data.

@benedikt_zeilinger, you can do this now. Create a Part to be your block library and create your Blocks in it (you can even create multiple parts to have multiple libraries if you wish), and store that part/parts in a centralized location.

Then, any time you need one of your Blocks, use "Derive" to Derive in the block from the appropriate "Library" part.

Yeah, that sounds nice. Thanks DRoam

My pleasure, hope it works well for you.

There is also a good application for this purpose: Import Sketch Blocks

In addition to DRoams suggestion (which we use as well), just add the blocks you need to your part template file.  For the ones you use most often, they are already there.  For all others, just derive in from your "common" part file.

(We have our "For Review" stamps and similar in our Drawing Template, and we have the base/common parameters in our assemblies and part files, as well as the common skeletal sketches.)

Hope that helps,

Kenny
