Being able to render Point Clouds (LIDAR)

Being able to render Point Clouds (LIDAR)

Inventor already accepts Point Clouds from Recap and other programs to use in desiging your models.

I would, however, like to be able to render the Point Cloud and the model at the same time IN inventor.

Yes. You can import both the Cloud and the Model in 3DS for instance, but that's inconvenient.

To clarify a bit. (was very busy before...)

So. What I'm working with is a large factory. For some sections of the building I have small sections that I have cropped and imported.

The point cloud density is now 1x1x1 mm.

So this gridspacing is great when you're viewing from far away and you have a bunch of points that kinda blend together.

But when viewed upclose, or zoomed in rather, the points apear smaller. This can be fixed by making the points apear themselves larger. This is already a function that is available in 3D Studio Max (which we also have installed but I don't like to use since I am not familiar with this software)

I made a video. I don't remember to embed it here. Too much work

Just to clarify - when you say "render the point cloud ... IN inventor..." you mean... what?  To video or frames? Or are you referring to the on screen display?

I was initially refering to the inventor studio environment.
I use fixed viewpoints in the main assembly we have. So every time there's an update. People can regognise the location.

Point Clouds aren't visible in Inventor studio yet however.

Besides that. When zoomed in the voxels get too small. So being able to set a voxel size would be great.

Inventor should be capabel to create meshes or similar from point clouds. Current situation is unacceptable...

Yes that would be nice. I agree rendering it in studio the PC just disappears, suspicious.

This is still relevant.  You can import point clouds into Inventor, but I cannot see a way to render them or use them in drawings.

Both would be very useful to cut down on modelling time or integrate information with other stakeholders.

is this still not possible? 8 years later??
