I often need to balloon some complex presentations, with an underlaying building reference.
I would find it handy if there was a possibility of a masked background of the inside of the balloon, so the text is not disturbed by the building underlay.
I have created a block that I have been using for years that works great. That is until we installed Inventor 2023. Now it is causing issues when I try to connect multiple balloons. Then it causes Inventor to freeze. I have drawings that won't open because the Custom Balloon is in them. I have lost the ability to open many Drawings.
The Balloons on the left are Inventor Standard, the one on the right is the one I created with a Mask. It works great until I try to add additional balloons like on the left.
If Autodesk could add the ability to have a mask in the balloons, text & dimensions it would be great. You know, like AutoCAD has had the ability for years and years.
Correct me if I'm wrong, you're asking for the Balloon item to have the ability to clip object lines like text has for x-hatch clipping.
Here's the thing, I think you may have found a bug in 2023 as I've been testing this idea and even with the clipping option active, the X-Hatch is not clipping around the text as it should and has in the past. I don't recall for a fact, but I would think the same would happen for a balloon. But your case is a bit different as you are needing actual object lines to be clipped. I'm going to look into this a bit once I get the chance and see if this is in fact a bug or some issue on my end. If I think it's a bug, I'll submit a ticket for a fix.
