Automatic numbering on 'Generate files' for iParts

I think it could be interesting to show a dialog box, similar to 'Making Components', when you generate files on an iPart so that it gives you a choice to select your numbering scheme.

Now you have to 'guess' your next available number and hope nobody uses it in between ...

Do you mean something like http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Inventor/enu/2014/Help/1283-Inventor1283/1718-Parts1718/2147-iFeature21..., or do you have a numbering system for all parts that is not unique for each iPart factory?

We have a numbering system yes, running on our Vault database that makes sure we have unique filenames. When you 'create components' out of solids you get a dialogue box with the numbering scheme, same happens for frame generated files.

When you 'Generate' your ipart factory members, you are not given such a message box that asks you for the numbering, now you have to fill in the filename in advance, without any knowledge on where the numbering starts. I'd love to see that integrated somehow...

Hi,

I think it is neccesary to separate between the numbering of iPart Child, which is the file-name and the display name.

The numbering should be an internal number, that could be customized with any options. The display name is a free editable text whithout restrictions for charactes like "/" ...
