And let there be a faster way to place a bolt in the middle of a slot.

 

Other CAD systems have an attachment point in the center of the slot.

Must be possible in Inventor as well.

The slot features should be model features like chamfer and hole, not sketch enhancements.

This new feature can contain a attachment point for bolts, pins etc which is placed in the middle and/or outer centers of the slot.

Perhaps their behavior would be similar to an iFeature, but more convenient to access.

You would still want access to the slot sketch for constraining purposes and access to sketch parameters for creation associations.
