Assembly Multi-Select Constrain

Assembly Multi-Select Constrain

The following feature I can see working well with mate and flush commands, beyond that it could be used for other functions as well, but i see the need especially in this area.

Mate/Flush needs the option to multi-select secondary planes and the following is how It would work:

The first selection would be the "Base plane" that you want all the following planes to be flushed/mated/etc to. You would then select the 'n' number of "Secondary Planes" (using Ctrl-Click)  that would need a paired constraint with the "Base Plane." The program would one by one create their individual mates to the base plane. If an error occurs, the program would put that constrain in a queue and proceed to the next "Base"-"Secondary" selection pairs until it attempts all secondary selections in the order that you clicked. At the end of attempting to process all constrains, It would run you through the errors one-by-one until you cancelled the individual defective pair's or resolved the issue's.

In other words, this is a little complicated to explain, however it would make constraining simpler and more efficient by allowing people to assemble a group of parts to the same plane without creating the constraints individually where they may not be the same part or distance apart: i.e. where the rectangular pattern feature fails. As you use Inventor more, you'll learn how to avoid conflicting constraints which would make this feature I mentioned increasingly valuable the more you use it.

I understand I-Logic can do something similar to this but this feature should be built within the mate/flush program so one would not have to search for the I-Logic Command.

Please let me know what you think of this.

Best regards,

Chase Murray

Great idea. Supporting it

Thank you for your support! Hopefully if we get enough people behind it, we can make it happen and make assemblies a lot faster haha

Status changed to: Implemented

It should be implemented in Inventor 2026.2, and please have a try. Thanks!
