The extend or elongate feature would be used to make a piece longer over a certain geometry while shifting the rest of the part. For it's inputs it would need to take a surface/sketch along with a volume, if would then extrude the sketch or surface and shift the rest of the piece down a determinate distance, this would making parts of varying lengths easier, especially when the edges are complex.
