Allow Units Override settings in the Drawing Module

The Part and Assembly modules of Inventor 2017 have Units Overrides in Documents Settings.  The Drawing module does not allow Units overrides in Document Settings.  Instead, Units for Drawings are strictly controlled in the  Dimension Style via the Styles Manager, and the "active drafting standard set in the units system."

I would like to be able to set the Precision (decimal places) for Inventor dialog box fields so that I can see the value/s that I have entered in the fields.

Inventor accepts a values in areas of the Styles Editor for Drawings as typed, no matter how many decimals I type, but the value becomes rounded to the 3rd decimal for imperial units and rounded to the 2nd decimal for metric units.  If I enter vales such as .03937 or .03125 I will only see the rounded value.  The same fields in the Styles and Standards Editor for Part and Assembly files show the full number of decimals that are specified in the Units tab of Document Settings.

                   

The rounding of these fields in no way alters the Units and Precision Settings that users specify in the actual dimension style so dimensions and other drawings elements will display with the desired decimal places.

I find it inconsistent to not be able to see the data in fields as users might expect when typing the data.  Many others see this as unnecessary and useless as it doesn't impact the elements shown on the drawing sheet but I would like to see consistency across the Inventor modules and I would like to see the data as entered.

Good morning!  I'll have to stew on this one a bit more.  I actually like that the dimensions in a drawing are controlled via the styles, as this allows me to quickly change dimension representations as needed.  Also, the styles enforce consistency in the way dimensions are presented on a drawing.  I think this is very useful functionality and am reticent to allow users to deviate from it at will.  Please let me know if I've missed anything regarding this.

However, for the second part of the post, making the decimal values consistently displayed across all Inventor dialog boxes, I would be on board with this.  The more consistent the various dialog boxes are, the better.

You can switch dimension styles on the fly with the annotate, Format pull-down option.  So you could set your default style to have as many decimal places you want to see in the dialogue boxes, but when you are actually dimension, change your style to one set for 2 or 3 or whatever spaces you want.
